Corn Crazy Unboxed kids subscription box

There are seven (7) different types of corn; field/dent, sweet, popcorn, flint, flour, pod and waxy. In our October 2023 Kids Sonder Agriculture Unboxed box we study them all. It’s all about corn education!

The primary top-producing corn states lie in the area known as the “Corn Belt” or “Midwest”. Here the land is relatively level with rich, fertile soils and good growing conditions for corn. 54% of our corn is grown in Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska and Minnesota. One-third of the world’s corn is grown in the U.S.

Corn is mostly used for livestock feed and industrial purposes such as ethanol fuel production, but did you know there are over 4,000 grocery items that list corn as an ingredient?

The kernel is made up of four major components – starch, fiber, protein, and oil. Each part can be processed into a wide variety of different products!

Corn is an important agricultural commodity!
